QSI RENU Scholars Mixer
June 11, 2026 | 3-5 p.m. | Chicago campus (exact location to be shared after RSVP)
The QSI RENU Scholars Mixer is designed for Northwestern researchers interested in regenerative engineering to engage with peers across a variety of clinical and engineering disciplines. Join other postdocs, graduate students, fellows, residents, and medical students for an afternoon of networking to share ideas, spark collaborations, and build new connections. Food and drinks will be provided.
Prior to the open networking session, there will be two brief "Rising Stars" presentations from:
- Brandon Applewhite (postdoctoral scholar, Center for Advanced Regenerative Engineering): Applying synthetic biology and regenerative engineering approaches to enhance mitochondrial transplantation for vascular disease, including development of surface-engineered mitochondria to improve cellular uptake and vascular targeting.
- Dillan Prasad (medical student, Feinberg School of Medicine): Development of implantable and wearable neurosurgical devices, including the FASTEN8 system, a wireless microsensor platform for early detection of spinal hardware failure and instability.
Rock Stars of Regenerative Engineering Symposium (ACS Fall 2026)
Chicago | August 23-27, 2026
QSI RENU is co-sponsoring the annual Rock Stars of Regenerative Engineering Symposium, part of the American Chemical Society (ACS) national fall meeting. The event brings together world-renowned regenerative engineers, scientists, and industry leaders to discuss cutting-edge research, the commercialization of regenerative engineering technologies, and the future of the field.
The symposium features presentations from leading experts, as well as talks from Rising Stars—typically assistant professors—who showcase their innovative research. Additionally, Emerging Stars present their work through rapid-fire talks and e-poster presentations during a networking reception at the end of the symposium. The event also includes a panel discussion with Rock Stars and cash prizes for the best poster presentations and oral talks, further encouraging excellence and innovation in regenerative engineering.
